The 30-second Rule

Image
When most people meet others, they search for ways to make themselves look good. The key to the 30-Second Rule is reversing this practice. When you make contact with people, instead of focusing on yourself, search for ways to make them look good. Every day before I meet with people, I pause to think about something encouraging I can tell them. What I say can be one of many things: I might thank them for something they've done for me or for a friend. I might tell others about one of their accomplishments. I might praise them for the personal quality they exhibit. Or I might simply compliment their appearance. The practice isn't complicated, but it does take some time, effort, and discipline. The reward for practicing it is huge because it really makes a positive impact on people. (25 Ways to Win with People) TAKE THIRTY SECONDS WITH EACH PERSON YOU MEET TODAY TO ADD VALUE TO THEM. God Knows Your Faithfulness

Image
God sees your faithfulness. He sees everything you do that is good and right. Every time you choose not to sin, every time you resist temptation, every time you take a stand because of God's Truth, He sees your faithfulness to Him. The Bible says every good deed will be rewarded, no matter how insignificant and regardless of whether anybody else on earth sees it. Imagine yourself on a giant stage and you're the only person on that stage. You're acting out your life. In the audience there is only one person and it's God. He's out there clapping and saying, "I see that good thing you just did. Keep on going! Nobody else saw it, but I saw it." You may be thinking, "I've been trying to do the right thing in my marriage. I don't see any results. I've been trying to be the right kind of person and respond correctly with my kids or to my parents. I've been trying to do the right thing at work or at school. And I don't know if it...

Truth shall make you free

Image
" You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8: 32 When you change news channels, you change worldviews. Journalism is now so opinionated that the same story, reported by two different broadcasters, sounds like totally different events. We switch stations and ask, "Are these people on the same planet? What happened to objective news? How do we know what to believe?" (Recommended Reading: John 1: 14-18) As you form your opinions, make sure to build your worldview on the basis of Scripture. In John's Gospel, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (14:6). He called the Holy Spirit the "Spirit of truth" (14:17). He prayed to the Father, "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." (17:17). Those who study their Bibles every day, who memorize God's Word, who meditate on His precepts, and who accept the authority of Scripture are less likely to be deceived. They are like treasury agen...

God Brings Good Out of Bad

Image
God is an expert at bringing good out of bad. He could have kept Paul out of prison in Philippi but instead He let Paul go to prison and the jailer became a believer as a result. God could have kept Jesus from the cross but He let Him go -- His own Son -- He let Him suffer and die. Did He bring any good out of that? I'd say He did!   The things you wish were most removed from your life are often the very things that God is using to shape you and make you into the believer of character He wants you to be. He wants to use that problem for good in your life.a There's something more important than your pain. It's what you're learning from that pain. God is in control. So what's the key? What's our response? Our response is to look past the pain. "This is the reason we never lose heart. These troubles which are temporary are winning for us a permanent, a glorious and solid reward out of proportion to our pain. So we don't look at the temporary sit...

Choices Control Your Calendar

Image
Your choices are far more powerful than your circumstances. You may not like how complicated your life has become yet (with few exceptions) no one is forcing you to keep your life complicated. You have the power to simplify your life. In fact, God expects us to assume responsibility for our lives and to carefully choose how we spend our time. You have just enough time to do God's will while you're here on earth. You've been given just enough time to fulfill your purpose. When you try to do more than God planned for you, it's only natural that you'll find yourself constantly out of time or stressed over your schedule. My prayer for you is that you will find relief from stress and a new sense of satisfaction as you do only the things God created you to do. Choosing a Simpler Life

Image
God never intended for you to make completing a to-do list the purpose of your life. The fact is, there are many things we think we must do that really are not worth doing. My point is this: You won't simplify your life by getting an electronic organizer. Simplifying is really about choices - prioritizing what is important - and then sticking to those choices no matter how tempting it is to add more to your to-do list. In fact, take those tempting activities and put them on a list of things not to do. You are the only one who can assume responsibility for your time and clarify what's really important to you.   'ढुङ्गा छर्ने एउटा समय छ, र ती बटुल्‍ने एउटा समय। अँगाल्‍ने एउटा समय छ, र अलग रहने एउटा समय। ' उपदेशक 3:5 ( by Rick Warren)

Is attending Church necessary?

Don't Just Believe. Belong! You are called to belong, not just believe. Even in the perfect, sinless environment of Eden, God said, "It is not good for man to be alone." (Genesis 2:18 NIV)  We are created for community, fashioned for fellowship, and formed for a family, and none of us can fulfill God's purposes by ourselves. The Bible knows nothing of solitary saints or spiritual hermits. While your relationship to Christ is personal, God never intends it to be private. In God's family you are connected to every other believer. The Bible says, "In Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." (Romans 12:5 NIV) Following Christ includes belonging, not just believing. C. S. Lewis noted that the word "membership' is of Christian origin, but the world has emptied it of its original meaning. Stores offer discounts to "members,' and advertisers use "member names' to create mailing li...
